welcome!
what is this place?
this site is a place for me to save all of my (mostly) successful creations in one tidy place. you’ll find a lot of simple, everyday food recipes here. no frills or nothing too crazy fancy like truffle oil or amuse-bouche. you won’t find much else other than recipes. i do enjoy creating things outside of the kitchen, so you might find some of those featured from time to time!
the characters:
jess: i am a self-proclaimed neat freak with a creative, nerdy flair. as a native michigander, i grew up as a picky eater with a lot of home-cooked comfort foods. (thanks, mom!) once a nashville transplant, i learned more about food such as buttermilk, pecan beer and bbq… but i still cringe when i hear the word “ya’ll”. we also spent a few years of life in bellingham, wa: the land of hippies, hipsters and amazing scenery. we now call massachusetts home and know this is where we’re meant to be! i love a good monstah lobstah roll, grilling out at home in the summer and comfort food to stay cozy in the winter. spending time with our family is my most favorite of all, whether we’re all exploring new england or just the two of us crashing on the couch after the kids go to bed, it is always the best of times.
tom is my rockstar engineer husband. he deals with my shenanigans and is willing to eat just about anything i make. he’s an honest food critic and can always put a smile on my face. plus, he’s the brains behind making this website really work and i can’t ever find enough ways to show him how much i love and appreciate him. you can find tom over on practicecuriosity.com.
ben and nate are our sweet boys. much like walter matthau and jack lemmon, they are polar opposites, but each wonderful in their own way. someday, i anticipate bringing groceries home by the u-haul load, but for today, we’re working on introducing new (and healthy!) foods to our kids. sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, but we always keep trying.
lucy is our golden retriever pup. she is basically my soux chef because she’s always in the kitchen waiting for samples! she loves long walks on the beach, swimming in the pool and her ball.
together, we make one pretty awesome team. just make sure to stay out of the kitchen, tom. 🙂
